I am a feminist determined to speak out and be heard. I’ve discovered I’m really passionate about Women’s Rights and such, and wanted to start a blog about it.
And I wanted to take a minute to clear something up. To me, feminism is not just about making women equal to men, it is so much more than that. If you believe that women are equal to men, you are a feminist. There are certain stereotypes that come with that word—feminist. Today, not many people understand what feminism actual is. It is not a bunch of Lesbian women (not that there is anything wrong with that, of course) denying the existence of men, and desiring a world where women are above men. I believe that feminism is about the equality of all people, and acknowledging that we are all different, trying to overcome this.
“Certainly there are very real differences between us of race, age, and sex. But it is not those differences between us that are separating us. It is rather our refusal to recognize those differences, and to examine the distortions which result from our misnaming them and their effects upon human behavior and expectation.”-Audrey Lorde
